Kuta is not my first pick for a peaceful Bali escape, but it can still be useful depending on your itinerary.

Although the Gili Islands are technically part of Lombok rather than Bali, they pair beautifully with a Bali couples holiday.

Gili Air is one of the best choices for couples who want a relaxed island escape with beach bars, snorkelling, sunsets and a peaceful but not-too-sleepy atmosphere.

There are no cars or motorbikes on the island, which makes it feel completely different from Bali.
